2003 A4 bogging down when put in gear at start
I need your guys help. I have a 2003 A4 3.0, and I have had it in the shop 3 times now for the same problem, and the shop hasn't fixed it.
Problem: My car starts up just fine and is fine at idle, but when I shift it into reverse/drive and the RPMs go down, it starts bogging down and sometimes almost cuts out completely. This will happen anywhere from 2-10 seconds at which point it will then get back to running smoothly and I have no problems the remainder of my travels or if I shut it off and come back out 15 minutes later when the engine is still warm. I do not have problems when it shifts gears or is low RPMs at any other time, nor when I am stopped at red lights/stop signs. It is only when the car has sat for several hours and only when I put it into gear.
I have been trying to find information on the forum, but nothing I have found has been directly like this. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated because I am sick of taking it to the shop when they clearly have no idea what is going on.
Thanks everyone!

Just thoughts, but fuel & air filters, throttle position indicator or air flow meter (MAF), would be my first checks, in that order. It sounds as though the computer isn't compensating for the additional load at idle when you select a gear, so either the fuel flow is too slow, the air flow too high for the available fuel, or the signal to the computer is out of step with the extra load.
