99 A4 Doesn't Start
So I went on vacation for a few weeks and came back and tried to start my 99 A4 1.8T 5spd but no luck. I need to change my oil but I checked the oil level and it was good, the battery is over 12V. When I try to start the car, cel or any other light does not comes on, the battery light flashed but again its over 12V. While starting it I try to rev the engine but nothing happens, it doesnt rev when i hit the gas. My flex pipe is broken and I ordered the part on friday to get it fixed, could that be the cause of this? Any ideas, thanks in advance.

try to jump it. so ur saying there are no lights coming on when the key is in the on position but ur getting readings from the guages? sorta souns like a bad connection or something. do u hear any sounds when ur tryin to start it? is it trying to turn over or any clicking noise? the flex pipe ur talking bout is the exhaust flex pipe right? if u r, then no it shouldn't effect the starting issue

I'll trya jump, but when the key is in the on position all the lights come on like they normally would. When I try to start it it makes a normal engine sound (not really clicking). But it seems like it just doesnt 'catch'. The flex pipe is the exhaust flex pipe.

I just spoke to an "audi specialist" and he said that I should not jump the car with another vehicle because the ECU burns out easily...is this true? He said its probably the fuel pump, what do you guys think?

First I would say that even though the guage reads over 12 volts its not that volts that matter. Its the amps. Second, I don't see how your ECU would suffer from a jump. I just wouldn't keep the cables on there too long. But hook up the jumper cables, wait about 5 to 10 seconds and then try starting it. I may be wrong on the ECU part, sombody correct me if I'm wrong.
