a4 vibration idle and reverse
Just bought and a4 avant 2007 automatic and noticed the following:
1) idles fine in park-no vibration
2) slight vibration when idlingin drive at stoplight.
3) more noticable vibration idling when shifter moved to reverse-even when starting at slow speed
Is this normal with A4 automatics or does anyone know what this could be?
Thanks

RE: a4 vibration idle and reverse
Its probably a small vaccum leak, or the auxilliary vaccum pump (automatics only) isn't working causing the engine to not get enough vaccum.
Check it for fault codes and post them back on this forum, you can get the codes checked for free at autozone.

That sign that says OK in your dash just means all your basic lights and brake sensors are ok, not your engine.
You would need to pull the fault codes, there is literally hundreds of codes that won't cause a check engine light.

I spoke with the dealer, and they said this is normal. Hard to believe, I'm new to audi, but don't think the car should be vibrating in a way that you can feel it at idle and reverse. I'm going to take it in. Dealer also said if there was a vaccum leak, it would show up in a check engine light.

Vibration here too on my pre-owned '03 A4 1.8T a/t since I got the car. Vacuum hose would cause CEL to light up. I had that done new vaccum hose and seals, still vibrates. Few others have had similar problems. You might find a handful of threads about this in this forum . Many have different opinions but really no exact solution. I'm beginning to think it's the way Audis are built and it's just "normal"...but I'm still not convinced...I didn't expect this from a luxury performance vehicle...there has to be some sort of solution to this...
