I have a uk spec A4 2l FSI, AWA engine code and I am at a complete loss as to how to time the cams up, there are no marks that seem to correspond with each other, all the data books I have do not list the A4 FSI engine, does anyone out there have any info on how to time up the chain between the cams.

The proper manual would help a little.

There have got to be marks on the front of the engine to line up the cams. On mine, they were on the block, and on the timing belt cover.

Have you looked closely at the t-belt covers?

 

British manuals are notoriously vague, I have access to Autodata which lists timing marks and procedures for just about every engine for an Audi except the A4 FSI, it lists the A3 FSI but this is different to the A4 for some reason, just trying to avoid paying a silly bill from Audi just to time this up right when I am more than capable of doing it myself with the correct information.

Ive been looking how old is the car?? the latest data I have is the 2004 ALT code, AWA isn't listed listed im waiting for my new disc which covers Audi till 2006 and hopefully it will be in that software, having said that the FSI is just direct injection so it could be the same setup as the ALT if its 16v only problem with this data is it only shows how to change the timing belt and not how to line the cams up which is a totally different job,

have a look at the picture you can zoom right in and see the line up marks on each cam
