beginner audi driver
Hi!
I just bought an audi a4 1.8 tfsi multitronic and have a few questions for you experienced drivers:
(1) If I switch into manual mode, do I need to remove my foot from the accelerator whenever I shift gears?
(2) When in manual mode, what is the highest gear I can use when moving from a full stop? Can I skip the first 1 or 2 gears to minimize shifting?

You do not need to lift off the gas when shifting gears. You could start is 2 or higher although anything above seond gear your car is going to crawl off the line. Not to mention using to high a gear when starting will actually decrease your fuel mileage. I have started mine in second, don't recall if I have tried third. I just let the car do the shifting unless I feel like some spirited driving.

Thanks rhodes991!
Also, I noticed that when I drive in D-mode, my engine revs around 1,000rpm. My impression is that the automatic transmission prefers to keep the gears high. But as a consequence, I get such slow acceleration when coming from a full stop. Any ideas on how to tweak this (aside from going into S-mode)? There's also a bit of lag when reversing
