Default Cabrio top separating from glass or normal?

My daughter just bought a used (58k) A4 Cabriolet 3.0. I noticed last night that the convertible top appears to have separated from the rear glass on the sides (about 2 inches long) near both lower corners. I would definitely say it wasn't normal if it were just one side. But, the same separation appears on both sides (symmetrical). Is this normal? It rained a little the other day and she didn't notice any leaking. Have any other cabrio owners noticed this or is this a known issue?

this is a common failure for all Audi and VW canvas tops. The issue is in the glass-canvas attachment methods. Soft-top models from other performance manufactures corrected this issue years ago, but Audi and VW stay the course hoping no one will notice this obvious manufacturing defect.
