Default Coolant leak seems unstoppable (rear flange)

I've had a problem with a coolant leak ever since I bought my car 2 years ago. Earlier this year when I did my t-belt change I spent some time replacing hoses and o-rings trying to get this to stop. The biggest perpetrator was the flange at the back of the head. While I was ordering parts I decided to buy a new flange just in case the orginal was cracked or warpped or something. Well, even after replacing the o-rings and flange it is still leaking there. It appears that the metal pipe that mounts to this flange is flexing it and creating a leak on the oppostie edge.

Anyone else ever have to deal with a problem like this? Is it safe to loosen the bolts between the metal pipe and the flange to prefent the flex? Or should I goop the hell out of the flange to head mounting surface?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Do not loosen those bolts for the flange, its really easy to pinch the O-ring on the coolant flange (happens all the time) so get a new O-ring and try again.

I got it apart and the o-ring was not pinched. It is a little flat on both sides, but this is a new o-ring as of 4 months ago. Looks like I'm going to goop it up with black high temp RTV and see what happens.

What condition is your oil cooler around the oil filter?

Seems they start to corrode and leak.

Yea, it did that too. Actually every place where there is a hose fitting was corroded badly, but I fixed all of that back when I did the t-belt replacement. The only place I see fluid is that stupid flange at the back of the head, and it only leaks when the engine is reved up... at idle it doesn't leak a bit.
