Default First gear clicking/ticking, no more noise when i shift into 2nd..

when i drive in first there is a clicking/ticking noise that is pretty fast, as soon as i shift out of 1st it disappears, could this be my first gear going bad?? I have the same noise at idle when the clutch it fully released, as soon as i press the clutch in while in neutral the ticking goes away. So its only in neutral when the clutch is NOT pushed in, and in first gear. I need help.

does the sound increase with speed? Mine does it in 2nd - I'm not too worried - doesn't slip. works fine so I guess I'll find out what it is when I replace the clutch

I had that problem on my last Audi (2.8) I think it was a chip in one on the teeth of the first gear. It didn't affect the driveability, but it got pretty loud and was pretty embarrasing. You should also hear it increase with the rpms.
