Default Have Fault code, please help

I have had my fault codes read due to an auto transmision problem and the code comes in with 17090 P0706 035, Transm.range sencor Circ. Range/performance sporatic.

I went to Audi and asked them and they have said its the Gearbox ECU and quoted me £1100 . My question is, Where could i buy the ECU as Audi want £590 for one and would any garage be able to do it. Thanks

I think its wiring because is so intermitant and even when your driving the D letter on the dash sometime flashes on and off. All the gears work fine and its only reverse that plays up only if the gear indicator lights are not lit on the dash. I dont know where to look, so where would i find the wires to check if there loose

just looked at the quote, Parts come to 600 and they have put labour time as 2.9hours which works out at £156 per hour. What a complete rip off. I just cant afford to spend that sort of money. dont know what to do unless there is anyone in the south west of england who can do it for at a cheaper cost

if you think is a loose wire then start at the accelerator peddle because that's where the signal to the ecu comes from

edit: you can print all that or save to your hard drive for later use

Resetting adaption values for gearbox control unit (basic setting)Resetting adaption values for gearbox control unit (basic setting)
Notes:

â—†After repairs to valve body (e.g. replacement of solenoid valves), when replacing valve body, the torque converter or the gearbox, the adaption values in gearbox control unit must be reset.
The adaption values for normal mode in the gearbox control unit are re-learned more quickly in this way after restarting.
â—†The adaption values in the gearbox control unit are reset if:

‒The multi-pin connector of gearbox control unit is disconnected for more than 15 minutes=>Page 37-16
‒The battery is disconnected for more than 15 minutes [/ul][/ul]
