Default Heater blower

Hello,
Ihave an A4 1.8 20v 1996 with climate controlbut the blower/fan only partially works now (hardly any air comes out). I had a look at a manual and figured it could be

a:the fan itself (it still works just not as good)

b:Blower motorresistor/thermal fuse???

c:the control unit in the dash(I have removed it and cleaned the contacts in the back which made no difference)
Any thoughts?

Default RE: Heater blower

My son just had the same problem with his 1996 A4 Quattro. The blower was working (not very well) and the other day it finally stopped. I just ordered a replacement for it yesterday (1/31) and should be getting it this afternoon (2/1). Not that many people carry a blower motor for that year and vechile (thanks Audi!)but I finally found someone that did have it for under $100. I'll let you know how it works out in case yours is the same problem. Good luck!

yep resistor and you can change the thermal resistor which is probably the fault, cut the thermal resistor off and take it local electrical place so they can match the heat resistance up ( micro therm 4468A AFA 240C ) (( you must not solder it back on the heat from the soldering iron will blow it )) it has to be crimped in place

Default RE: Heater blower

Hello again
I just had a look at my blower motor but couldn't locate the thermal resistor at all.
I have a Haynes manual and neither the description or photos sound or look like
what is fitted to my car (A4 1.8 20v 1996 P reg).
I took the blower out and tested it and all seems solid and working.
Couldsomebodypoint me in the direction of the resistor?

I appreciate the help. Unfortunately my car does not have it located there. Is there any other picture of where else it could be? I have dropped the entire center console and bottom of the dash and still can not find it. Do all a4's have a resistor? Could there be another reason I am popping fuses? I have checked the wiring and it all looks sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I dont know how to post a new thread.

Thanks
Rich
