I'verebuilt motors that havesludged up using synthetic oil at 5000 mile intervals at work, that's why I go 2000 miles (and I like to run my car hard through the gears).

Yep, I'm talking miles.

tractioncontrol, is the sludging problem really that bad? I may go down to 3k miles if that's the case. I want my engine healthy!

I don't work on Audi's. There is currently a recall one 1 specific Toyota motor that has had sludge problems, to have it rebuilt under warranty customers have to provide proof that they have had the oil changed every 5000 miles or less and I have rebuilt 6 of them now in the last 3 months.

thats the thing, ya it gets pricey to change it every 3000miles or 5000km, but its the best preventative maintenance so in the long run i guess its worth it

you have to assume that with regular oil changes these yota's are being beat to crap for them to blow....those motors should be fairly solid to begin with

Toyota blocks are lazer cut and don't get honed. I tear down a sludge motor clean it up, rering it and put in all new gaskets, lifters and springs. I have seen 150,000 mile sludge motors with the cross hatching still there, not a drop of oil came out of the motor but still no damage done to the cylinder walls or anything else. If there is scoring a new motor is put in.

that doesnt make any sense...the power increase with a chip is not enough to automatically put excessive load on the motor under normal driving conditions.
No your right it doesn't automaticlly put aload on the engine, But if your yousing that chip you have your going to run your car at a higher RPM and heat range which guess what breaks down engine oil. The harder you run your engine the sooner your oil should be changed.
