I just bought a 2006 Audi A4 and I am brand new to the Audi world. The car has 64K highway miles on and has had the brakes checked within the past year. I recently drove it up to the mountains to go skiing and the "check break" light started randomely flashing and beeping. The light doesnt stay on, but will flash and beep randomely. What could this mean and what must be done to fix it? And how much could it cost?

How was the skiing? Couple of ideas we see are the sensor on the pad may have been loosened or broken would account for the random symptoms or possibly something with the ABS but that is not so common. Would start by looking at the brake pad sensors making sure they are clean, intact and securly connected.

The ABS light doesn't come on though. Only the brake light that is usually on when the parking brake is engaged. It is becoming increasingly frequent but still does not stay on. Thanks for you input. Any other information/ideas are much appreciated.

 

Any suggestions as to why this could be happening? The same thing is happening in my A4 quattro. The brake light is on and beeps at a rate of 2-3 times per minute when driving. Are the brake pads the problem?
