So I have gone to the dealer twice about getting the navigation maps updated on my A4 Quattro Premium Plus. I have two different answers to how this is done. The first guy told me it would be about $400 and they would pull the hard drive out and update the maps and licensing. The second time I asked them about it they said, no all you need is the DVD which you can get at Parts. When I asked parts about it, they said I need the DVD and a "tool" for the dealer to update the maps with. Parts alone were going to be $579 plus the labor of the update.

My question is, can any out there tell me what the true process is for this and is there anyway I can do this myself without having the dealer involved. I do not want to jailbreak anything nor bypass any licensing but I also think a little over $600 for a map update is ridiculous. Any input and/or advise would be appreciated. Thank you.
