Oil Temperature Question?

Oil Temperature Question?
Where should my temp be while driving my car? Currently the weather in Atlanta is anywhere between 30-65 degrees and my oil temp while driving is anywhere between 200-230. I have read that I should let me engine temp cool down to below 200 after driving hard. Is that correct? I normally just let the engine idle for about 1-2 minutes and then shut her down.
Thanks for the clarification on all of this.. Yall are great!

RE: Oil Temperature Question?
I figured it would'nt be good for the engine to get that hot. What about cool downs? Am I supposed to be cooling my oil temp down before I shut the car off? If my engine is this hot in the winter, what in the hell is it gonna be like this summer?!?!?

RE: Oil Temperature Question?
As far as cool downs, I woulnt worry about it unless you have been running the car hard. Make sure when you post questions that you provide which engine you have. Or better yet put your car specifics in your signature (click on "my Profile"). If you have a turbo engine then it is more important than if you don't.

RE: Oil Temperature Question?
Thanks for the advice.. I changed it to add my car info in the sig. I do have a turbo, so I should probably let it cool down when I am driving hard.
Thanks for your help - As Always..
