Power steering high pressure hose leak repair
Hello to all, Just wanted to post some helpful info since when I was searching it was unavailable.
I had a high pressure power steering hose leak. Most places wanted $300 + for the part. I found mine on www.autohausaz.com
PN: 8D1422893AL for $99.39 plus shipping. Part was a direct replacement. It did not come with the 4 necessary washer seals. I bought those for about 50cents ea. at the dealer as well as the Audi power steering fluid($17). 1 L is plenty.
The bolt on the rack side is 3/4 socket and can be removed with just a 3/8 ratchet.
The bolt on the pump is a little biggerI think 7/8 and can be removed with a long extension from the top engine hood.
I installed the new line on the rack side first since it was more difficult to start by hand and keep new washers in place.
I then installed the pump-side and went back to the rack to do a final tightening.
Filled with fluid, did some figure "8s" and refilled and done!

RE: Power steering high pressure hose leak repair
I wish i knew there was a warranty option... The car is a 99.5 A4 quattro like yours... dealer said there is no warranty or recalls open. I checked back when I replaced tie rod ends. Those were a design hazard and should have been recalled! Anyway, the power steering is done now. How are you guys getting the dealer to do these repairs as warranty? Is there anything else that can be considered warranty? All I ever get in there is NO! PAY ONLY!
