Quattro fuel filter replacement
Let me start by saying what a pita this is to change. Why Audi placed it in the way they did escapes me. I read a few DIY before I got started and one was very helpful. The filter is held by a plastic ring that is pinched together with a triple square which I don't have. Even if I did, you can't get to it. Simplier way, take off the bottom banjo fitting, cap the filter with the cap that comes on the new filterso it doesn't drip on you. Grab the filter with giant h2o pump pliers and pull it down out of the holder. You have to pry the plastic ring that keeps it from sliding down out of the way, once that's out of the way it comes right out. If I did it again, I don't think I would even lower the tank at all. Funny thing, I think the filter was original, 175k on the car.

Yea it is a PITA. Why it was placed there is beyond me. The hex/torx bolt for the strap was rusted and stripped so I just cut the strap and pulled out the filter.

Issues were "salted winter roads" and banjo oxidation. Physically replacing the filter was a slight pita, but the small pits in the surface of the lower banjo fitting required patience, filing, and polishing before it was leak free was the major pita. Evenafter multiple new copper washers (one at a time and one time only), it had a drop of gasevery 5 seconds or so until the banjo fitting face was resurfaced.
