A4 Won't go into reverse - HELP!
99.5 A4 1.8T - Vehicle won't go into reverse.
The passenger side was flooded during the severe rain we experienced on the East Coast last month. I initially experienced the classic symptoms of a flooded TCU. The instrument panel PRDN21 displayed a rectangular block outline which I guess is consistent with a TCU in limp-mode. I ended up running a de-humidifier inside the car for 3 days to dry everything out. I then replaced the TCU with one that I purchased from a salvage yard. Everything was working ok for about a week. Then my reverse stopped working. At first, it would engage when the vehicle had been at rest for a few hours, and now it doesn't seem to work at all. I have to push my car (in neutral) out of every parking spot now.
Someone on the forums posted something about an F-seal failure. What's the solution to this problem?? I'm really praying that I'm not looking at having to replace the transmission.
