Default Rear Speaker Replacement

I just bought a pair of Infinity Kappa's to replace the Nokia speakers on the rear deck of my '98 2.8 and I can't for the life of me figure out how I'm supposed to splice the wires from the "12-prong" adapter that came off the driver's side speaker. Has anyone done a self install before and been successful? Please help guide me through this if possible.

So you are trying to replace the rear non-bose speakers? The rear speakers are driven by their own amp that is integrated into one of the rear speakers.

Does that mean that I need to buy an amp to make these speakers work or can I take the amp of the speaker where it's built into? I was hoping the self-install on this would be easy.

i doubt you can get the amp separated from the stock speaker. you can do away with the amp, but i wouldn't recommend that. just buy a small used amp off ebay.

Any ideas if a new amp could be wired through the exisiting wires or will I have to run fresh into the head unit?

I was able to remove the existing "mini amp" from the driver's side speaker and solder the harness to the new speaker. The sound is definitely better than the stock, but I don't think the Kappa's are worth the upgrade unless I add a real amp. That's definitely in the works, but will be even harder to self install. Thanks for all the help!
