Replace Headlight Bulbs on 2002 A4

RE: Replace Headlight Bulbs on 2002 A4
Hi donm3ga,
My right hand headlight bulb went a day after I purchased my A4. Audi UK wanted £10 for the bulb and £20 to fit it (cheeky buggers). It is possible to change the bulb without removing the headlight. You need nimble fingers. Once you have moved the metal clip out of the way you can then remove the black plastic cap on the back of the head light. using touch you can undo the clip holding the bulb in place. A bit of wiggling and it is easy to change. When replacing the black cover on the headlight be very careful to not drop into the bottom of the wheel arch/front bumper. From experience it is a right game trying to fish it back out.
Good Luck

Just out of interest is it possible to remove the wire connecter? There is a square hole on the top of it and I tried to push a screw driver into it but it was not going to release it. In the end I removed the air in take tube and pulled the light cluster out as far as the cable slack would allow. This is fine for change the dipped beam, but it will be harder for the full beam and indicator bulbs!

I found this thread in a search and think this is a good place for my question.
I'm in the middle of replacing my low beam bulbs (halogen) and can't get the driver's side assembly out. Yes, I know there are 4 torx screws and you remove the 2 on top but only loosen the two on the back. The passenger side came out so easy but the driver's side is stuck. I pull the thing aand it feels like there is something on the bottom of it keeping it there. It just won't budge.
Anyone had this problem? Any ideas? Thanks.

On the 2001, B5, there are 3 T-30 torx screws. The one
on the bottom is accessed through a hole in the fender.
A 1/4" T-30 bit is needed. A 6"extention is alsoneeded.

Thanks for the effort but I have a '02 A4. The stupid assembly just won't slide forward and I can't figure out why. It really feels like there is something on the bottom keeping it in place. I have unplugged a bunch of wires and such and I know that's not the cause. Well, if anyone has experienced anything like this, help would be appreciated. I'm going back out there tomorrow to try and figure it out. I swear it feels like it's fastened in there somehow. Thanks.

Whew, got it out finally. There are indeed only 4 torx screws and I had done that part correctly. It was getting hung up on the bottom but the only thing I saw that might be it was a 3-4" bead of caulk or sealant or something. I wound up just trying to pull it out and it gave up after a while.

I just did it on my 2003 A4 1.8T today ... once you figure out where the screws are, it's easy. Trick is to get the right tools ... a long screwdriver! Otherwise you can't reach the torx ... it's so freaking cramped in there. The lights assemblies in there are very simple and easy to replace.
