B5 Trouble Shooting help
Hey guys, i was hoping some of you had some input on this, so here it goes... I recently bought a 98 Audi a4 quatro 2.8L that had some front end dammage... the guy i got it from slid into a truck's tow hitch at a stoplight, and basically it want through the top of the front... the hood, radiator, ac condensor, Radiator mount took the impact... bumper was fine. i bought all the dammaged parts... when i tried to start it, the motor turned and it felt like it was on the verge of starting... like the car rumbled a bit (to the touch)... no gulping sounds or anything... i had a budy sit in the car for me as i looked at it, and the pulley at the top (with timing belt on it) wobbled a very little bit, like we're talking less than a mm. the center of it looked to be dead straight so i think its just the pully itself is slightly bent... i'll get another one no biggie... i read somehwere that the problem could be a stripped timing belt... which could have happened if the tow hitch jammed one of the pulleys whiel the car was still running... so i'll try a new belt too... does anyone else have any other input? anythingn would be great.
Thanks,
Val
