Default Wheel Spacers?!?!

Does anyone know the maximum size wheel spacers that would be ok for a B5 A4 on 225 wide rubber? Current offset is +45mm, and i've heard that the minimum offset you can go is +35mm, so a 10mm spacer. How about a 15mm or even 20mm spacer?

I'm going after a H&R set with the longer lugnuts, an other cheaper brands?

Seen 20mm on an A4, fits well. I'm also thinking of getting 10mm up front and 15mm in the rear after I get new wheels.

Whats wheel baring?

I know i might get some extra wear on the inner of the tires.. but not so sure if theres anything else to worry about?

Are spacers illegal in USA? Cos they are in Australia.. potential danger?

Yeah wheel spacers cause undue stress. I wouln't get too crazy with large spacers.

What about a 5mm to 15mm spacer? would that also cause undue stress on the bearings?

^^^ Yes any spacer will but it takes along time to kill the bearing. I have 19x8.5 with 35mm offset and the sit flush if not out a lil..............

Wow everytime I have a question someone ask it the same day :P

So I this morning I went to get a tire change since I had a bubble in the side of the tire. After raising the car I saw that both read tires had half grip and HALF SLICK !!! The metal ring was comming out .....

So I search on the reason and it seams that my drop is causing it, now that I have read this thread I<m sorta confused, I though spacers were essential when you drop your car.

I'm currently driving on Pirelli P6 P 235/45 R 17.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
