Wow. Thank you so much. Before the last test I had done they did change that pcv and the pan. I didn't understand what that was at the time but this is great. Now I get what is happening.

 

UPDATE!!!
Car got Pistons and Rings replaced. Will be getting it back next week. Along with this had to get the rear bearing and hub and new rear breaks.

Will this Pistons and Rings really fix the issue?

What other expenses has anyone had after 85,000KM?

I also have a 2tfsi 2011 bought in April. My oil consumption was bad for every 5oo miles i was refilling the oil. Audi said this was normal, and after speaking to the 3rd audi dealer i was told i needed to have an oil consumption test done £300. After this i was then told it was using more than average and would need to have a splitter on the oil. Back to the test of 600 miles again. This hadn't worked. So have had to have new pistons and rods fitted at a cost of £5035. This was done 800 miles ago and no problems since (touch wood) apart from an empty pocket. Audi did however pay for the parts. I had to pay the £2000 labour charge. However i have since found out depending which Audi dealer you go to some, seem to do it for free especially if your car was purchased from AUDI. This is a known fault with this model and batch of engines. Good Luck

 

After 3.5 years Audi finally replaced the Pistons and Rings (know defect) and I have not used a drop of oil since. It is the solution to the problem, was using a quart of oil every 1250 miles on average. Now nothing for 3 months.

 

Just bought a 2010 A5 2.0 Tfsi - in the first 2 weeks I have travelled just over 600 miles and so far have had to put in 2 litres of oil.
I've basically thrown it back at the dealer (it's Audi Used) and told them to come and pick the car up and leave me a loaner until they are ready to test the oil consumption.
I'm shocked that they ares till selling these vehicles unfixed.

 

My '09 A4 2.0t requires a quart of oil every 750 miles. As stated in this thread, 1200 miles is the dealer expected consumption. I'm considering getting rid of the car so I don't incur the expense of the inevitable repair. Does the repair really cost ~$6000 US? I guess that's why resale values for 2.0t cars are in the dumps.

I hate this because my wife loves her car. Any suggestions for a mid-size luxury vehicle that gets 30 mpg highway?

 

Forgot to list my mileage... I'm around 115K miles. The consumption jumped up at about 108K miles.

It does sound like more issues are being addressed as this thread travels through time. I'd be thrilled if my Audi dealer was cooperative. Flow Audi in Greensboro, NC. I just called and left a message with the service adviser. I'll try to keep the updates coming as some other helpful individuals have.

The irony is... my license plate surround says, "AUDI... Truth In Engineering." We'll see how that plays out.

 

Has anyone had the Pistons and Rings done and had their car longer than 1 year after the repair?
A mechanic friend of mine says that after a year or so the issue will return even with the pistons and rings replaced.
Any comments?

 

Mine was done four months ago, no oil consumption yet. The service clerk at OKC stated to me they have never had one come back after the piston and ring replacement. It appears mid 2009 - 2102 have an engineering issue that was fixed in later 2.0 TFSI engines. SO far so good. Only took 3.5 years to get the fix.

 

Well they had my car for just over a week to do the consumption test and not surisingly it failed by needing a litre after just over 500 miles.
Parts on order to put in new pistons and rings which the dealer assures me is a 100% fix, in the meantime I have a brand new Q5 to drive around in.
