Default 2000 A6 2.7T w/ NO low beams!

Hi, all. I've been doing some research and am confused on the solution. My low beams on my 2000 A6 aren't working consistently. Sometimes they both come on, sometimes only one comes on or, like this morning, NEITHER came on! It appears that there is one of two solutions to correct this, but I'm not sure which one. Do I need to replace the headlight switch or is it the turn signal switch? I'd like to order the part today, so if anyone can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it! I'd hate to buy the wrong part and have to wait even longer to correct this. Thanks in advance!

It is probably the multifunction switch on the column. You need to replace the entire assembly. I had this problem on my 1995 S6 and replaced it with a used one I purchased from an Audi forum member. I also learned where the problem was and how to fix it but the fix does not last.

Thanks for the info. Is there anywhere I can find instructions on how to remove the old one? I can't find a tutorial on it anywhere.

Unfortunately I do not know how to remove the switch in the C5 body style. Based on my experience with the C4 chassis my guess is that you disconnect the battery and wait 15 minutes to allow the airbag system to completely shut down. Then remove the airbag from the steering wheel and remove the steering wheel carefully making sure that you do not damage the clock spring, disconnect any connectors. Next remove the covers from the steering column and you should see the screws which hold on the multifunction switch.

It is not that bad. The first time is slow but once I did it a couple of times I could remove the multifunction switch in about 15 minutes.
