Default 2000 A6 power mirror switch

hi, I let my folks drive my A6 and next thing I know the **** for the power mirror switch is no longer attached to the car. I got the piece for the non-memory seats. I removed the cupholder and I could see I was getting close, but still I'm reluctant to start yanking the thing off. Is replacing the switch something I can do myself or do I need to remove the pannels of the interpassenger space?

thanks a lot. I think I basically understand. I have the tiptronic gearbox, so I guess I'm going with the automatic description. I'm not sure how to pull out the cover for the center console so your explanation talks about arrows directions A and B I'm not sure if this talks about an illustration that is missing or if there are letters somewhere for me to find on the console. Either way, thanks a lot.

you're right. the only different in the switches is between those cars with memory possitioning for the seats and mirrors, and those without. This car is without.
My doubt though was as to how to remove the cover for center console in the automatic version.

I'm a new comer to this. I have a 2000 A6 also and the switch is broken. Do you have a diagram that shows how to remove the mirror switch? I looked at the other diagram that avant80@2.6 sent but doesn't show the clips. Hopefully you have something? Thanks!
