2001 c5 A6 2.7T Suspension Mod Help
Hi All,
Forgive me for probably looking like a complete moron in my first post to this forum, and I'm probably not even posing this in the right place. Here goes nothing. So I'm looking to have some suspension work done on my 2001 C5 A6 2.7T manual. I called up a mechanic that seems pretty reputable in the area (and has worked on my car before with some pretty comprehensive labor). He gave me a quote for all Bilstein parts: struts, springs, shocks (I think). After labor and all that he says it should probably come out to about 1500 (including labor). First off does that price seem reasonable. I know of places that do each corner for like $75 each which would be much less in labor that this job. Secondly, is it worth spending that when I really should be putting money into more expensive coilover suspension?
I've found some that would run about $1200 from places like ECSTuning, but I don't know if that is actually good stuff or just cheap stuff. Here are some examples.
Audi C5 A6 Quattro 2.7T > Suspension > Coilovers > ES#1000 Street Performance Coilover Kit - 29482-2
Audi C5 A6 Quattro 2.7T > Suspension > Coilovers > ES#2129999 ST Performance Coilovers - 90026
I also have one more issue. When I am driving, sometimes it feels as though the car is shaking almost like it has a warped brak rotor, but it does it even when my foot is completely off the brake and the rotors have just been replaced. My mechanic thinks that it may because he was unable to balance the wheels because of bent rims due to how old the car is. I'm thinking of getting new wheels to remedy this, but does that make sense? It comes and goes and sometimes happens worse than other times. If it was the rims, I feel like it would be all of the time.
Again sorry if I'm not doing this right, and sorry for so much in one post. Hopefully someone can help me out.
Thanks!
