i am working on a 2000 a6 2.7T. i need the radiator support, p/n 4B0 805 588 N. they are hard to find, and the few i've found, the shipping is over twice the cost of the part.

what i do find frequently is p/n 4B0 805 588 G, which is for the 2.8.

so is there really much of a difference between the 2? would i be good using G as opposed to an N?

ETA: it's my assumption that the alphanumeric letters represent the factory location or which company made the part for them or something along those lines. but it pays to do your homework and to not work off assumptions, so that's what i'm doing. lol

 

Audi uses the last latter to differentiate parts so you are very wise to check and check thoroughly!

Trying to help you...I went to the car since that shroud doesn't look like the one I have on my non-quattro 2.8L . Mine has identical holes, as both fans are identical in size... so
This is what I have in my 2.8L:
4A0121207H
I bet ya that "advertised" 2.8L fits both 2.7 and 2.8 quattro... but don't take my word for it. Do your due dilligence. Call dealers, call various merchandisers, etc.
Also, do a search on EBay Motors...they come out much cheaper than that $ 61 + 100-180 in S & H.
However, as Bob said make sure you check and inquire thoroughly before buying one.

The ending letters actually suppose to discriminate among the various "productions" of that particular part throughout the years, either if it has been updated, modified, or just replaced with an improved part (material wise)
