2005 a6 4.2 quattro falls on face under hard accelleration from a stop.
This has me baffled. If I take off from a stop, and just give normal throttle, the car takes off fine. If I stand on the gas, hard, it will jump forward, cut power, jump forward, cut power, and do this until I let off the gas and give normal throttle pressure. This happens in every mode, D, S, and manual. I have no CEL on. Happens with ESP turned on or off. After I get moving, if I floor it, the car acts normal, and will give me everything it has, all the way to red line in every gear. Any insight would be appreciated. I have talked to 3 Audi Techs, and they can't come up with a solution without me taking the car in to them.

Ihave had the same issue form the time I bought the car new in 2005... all I get are lies from the dealership. For a performance vehicle and the price I paid for it years ago, it pissed me off and continues to irritate me to this day. I was told that there was a sensor somewhere that detects HOW I DRIVE and adjusts it so that I cannot accellerate like I want. I have a 3.2L, but still... let me know if you found out anything... Thanks, Ron

It is pretty dead on here for large replies, but there are a couple of good ones.
Let me share my two bits
- Despite no CEL, have you checked for codes?
- Check in the Engine and Trans and ABS areas
- When was your last tranny fluid change?
- have you ever pulled up the carpet on the passenger side to see if there is water that might have gotten into the trans computer
- Your drive by wire gas pedal could potentially need replacing.
Hope this helps and please report back

Solved
I had to break down and take this problem to the local import shop. Cost me $84.00 to get an answer, but it turns out that my passenger side motor mount is broken, and that was letting the engine shift just enough that the hose for my airbox/maf sensor was opening slightly, and letting so much extra air in, that my MAF sensor put the engine into a panic/limp mode. This all happened at about 3000 rpm, so would go from full throttle to no throttle, violently slamming the nose of the car down. It will be fixed this week, and I will report back with the results. I am replacing both motor mounts, which looks to be a straightforward procedure. Watched it done on YOUTUBE, and start to finish less than 25 minutes.
