Default 95 A6Q Trunk Dilemma

Got a bit of an issue here; can't open the trunk. The key hasn't worked in about 6 months so I have been using the open button in the glove compartment which has always worked fine until this AM. Is there a fuse for this or switch somewhere that I'm not aware of ? There is a sense of urgency here as I have a bag of garbage in there ! Any thoughts/help are most appreciated.

I;ve discovered a solution to this.

1st-remove licence plate and bracket.

2nd- drill a 1/2" hole one inch to the right from center of bracket, this will expose locking arm, using a small flat head scredriver slide the plastic retainer clip to the right and open she does. This allows me to replace the selenoid which went bad and to remove the wildly stinking garbage that has been in their since Saturday.

If it were only that simple, the seats do not lower. There is essentially a firewall behind the rear seats.

You could also have gone through the hole at the back of the rear seat where the skis pass through to unbolt the latch keeper with a very long socket extention.
