Default 2008 front brake pad change

My friend has a 2008 A6 quattro 3.2L 36,000 miles in which the brake pad sensor light just went on. I am going to change the pads and possibly the rotors (if they are thinner than specs). Can anyone give me some tips for this year/model??

I did find this for an older A6, will this work?

Thanks in advance!
