Default 2012 A6, Oil Consumption, ECM Update, Improved Performance

My 2012 A6 needed 1 qt of oil 7,000 miles after the first oil change at 5K and another at 5K after the 15K oil change and another qt 2K later. I took it to the dealer who performed "Part one of oil consumption test" and replaced the crankcase pressure regulating valve and reflashed the ECM.

The explanation for the oil consumption was that excessive pressure in the crankcase was causing oil to blow by the pistons. I did not get an explanation for the ECM update.

Now, here is the interesting part. It is too soon to know if the oil consumption has improved but the performance of the car is much improved. With the car in Auto mode it now performs as if is is in Dynamic mode. The car is much quicker off the mark and accelerates much better out of turns. I was happy with the performance of the car before but I am delighted with it now. It feels like I got a new and better car back from the dealer. Presumably this is due to changes in the ECM.

Now, two questions: Does the explanation for the oil consumption and the fix make sense? Anyone know what was done in the ECM update?

Thanks, Joel
