Default 2013 A6 3.0 Questions

Just purchased a '13 A6 3.0. Have some questions the book is not helping with:

-Memory in directory is showing old iPhone contacts from others, car was a loaner. How do I clear out?

-In directory on MMI screen, showing 15 blank contacts, then my phones contacts. When I attempt to delete, message says 'must delete from phone', but I don't have blank contacts on my phone.

-is audi connect really worth it?

Thanks!

Default Look at video

Mine is new so I dont have it down perfect yet, but there is a video if you go to CAR then look for the Manual (video) and you will find a video on the Phone system for the MMI. I watched it and they do show you how to delete contacts and/or reset it.

My problem right now is that it only allows 2000 contacts in total, and I have over 2300 that I need in there. Appears they limited the contacts to 2000 but have 6000 max for 3 profiles....that makes no sense, if they had a mem limit they should not put in place MAX for each, just overall.

I know a lot of people are dumbfounded by someone having so many contacts, as does it appears the Audi Engineers, but if you are in any number of industries Public Relations, Media, Corp Relations etc. having 2000+ contacts is NOTHING extraordinary!

All of my 2700+ contacts are current and valid and need to be called upon at any given moment. Having it "cut off" at 2000 removes everything beyond the letter "T" in my case which is not an option!

Audi needs to address this.

I just purchased a 2013 as well. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I just connect via bluetooth and it read it just off the phone. The contacts are not downloaded or saved to any system in the vehicle. I would think IPhones are the same. If not glad I have a Galaxy. but if anyone could confirm I would appreciate the answer.

They are downloaded, but to a temporary "shadow ROM" that is cleared when your phone leaves the Bluetooth "bubble".

This was a question we had when we picked the car up. We were concerned for security reasons that someone could see the contact info....ie VALET etc. But as soon as you exit the car with the phone, the phone data is gone. I tested this by the phone being removed, and when you look at contact there is nothing. NOW having said that, I am not sure where the data is stored but it is encrypted somewhere so that you dont have to wait for the download each time you enter the car. When we were at Audi and they showed us how to upload the first time...it took about 5 minutes to download the 2000 contacts (MAX). After that, they appear within seconds upon starting the car when the phone is present.

Hope this answers your question.

Same car same phone. It took me a few try's to get my contacts downloaded. I bought a demo and had to reset the MMI to factory settings and then add my phone and everything else. Works great now.

I like the Audi Connect but not sure I would get enough use out of it for $30 a month. If you are on the road a lot it could come in handy. It is only 3g and sometimes 2g. In my opinion it is only worth about $10 or $15 a month.

I will have to check that out. Is it through Audi or T-Mobile?
