a6 2.7t..feels like rumble strips when shocks compress around right turns??
I've been having this issue lately which I have never experienced before. When driving with the wheel turned to the right(even slightly) at any speeds above say 25mph, It feels like I'm going over rumble strips on the left side..I seem to feel it more when the car sways downward (shocks compressing down, think I'm due for new ones). I know I need a new upper rear control arm on driver side but I've never had this before with a bad control arm..Any thoughts?? I searched threads but only found people with this around hard turns..

CV's look fine...
axels are fairly new and I didnt see anything that could be rubbing against either front wheel... If anyone has had these symptoms related to a bad control arm or anything else, please let me know...Thanx

It could be a bad cv joint, but the most likely reason is a bad tire, second most likely reason could be bad lower control arms.
I've had bad vibrations for the past 30k-40k miles. changing parts all the time, and it finally ended up being BOTH the lower control arms AND tires.

Hope its not lower control arms!
Both lower control arms on the drivers side(side vibration seems to be coming from) were replaced (with Febi's) less than 50,000 miles or so. I'll be replacing the upper rear this week, and I'm hoping by some miracle this is the problem, but I have a bad feeling it's something else. I guess no matter what it is, I cant complain since I've got 249,000 miles on the car...Yes, and still running 16psi(stage 1+ unitronic) on stock turbos!!
P.S....Not the tires because I just replaced all 4 about 2 weeks ago.

which tires? roadforce balanced? directional? if its not the tires your only 2 culprits are the cv joints or lower control arms. it can also be your rotors but since you say its only when you turn right, then it shouldn't be the rotors.. my lower control arms went bad after less than 30k miles because they were installed wrong (bushing side bolts were tightened without the suspension being loaded, best way to make sure they are in the curb weight position is to actually have all 4 wheels on the ground or one of the lifts that lift by the wheels and it must be level....

Strange update???
I just replaced my bad upper rear control arm(was a TRW, must have been from my accident 2 yrs ago!..cheap crap) today, and problem solved!! No more growling around turns or clunking over bumps...I'm still puzzled as to how this fixed a problem that showed all of the signs of a wheel bearing!

My 2.7 did that too for a while. Mine fixed it self after I took the wheel off and looked around for anything damaged and nothing was. Thew it back on with 102 ftlbs of force on the lugs and problem solved. Weird stuff with these cars.
