A6 2000 2.5 TDI tiptonic tranny problems
Hello all,
I have a veteran A6 as described in the title. It has done 270k kms already.
Since I got the car (8 months ago) I have the below problems:
- On the first 3 gears (1,2,3) the engine noise is too heavy and it's as if the clutch is half way engaged and the engine can not send the power it produces to the wheels, as if half of the engine power is wasted at the clutch (not that I claim there's a clutch in the tranny ). When I get to 4 and 5 the engine sounds much quieter, and driving is more smooth (except the below issues)
- About 70-75 km/h speed, I see that when I drive with a constant speed, the RPM goes 200-300 revs up and down, fluctuating slowly.
- About 75-80 the tranny literally shakes the car, but when I get faster than 80 this also goes away.
So I know it's a really old car, probably has a messed up tranny. I am wondering if there's any chance some if not all of these problems can be resolved in a cheap way like changing the transmission oil.
Kind Regards, Caglar
