If resoldering does not work on cruise control module 4D0907305, then you could have a bad power transistor T7 (ST #BD535), which is located next to a large electrolitic capacitor and is embedded in white mastic material. This transistor is available from www.digikey.com where you may download a datasheet.

If in fact this power transistor goes bad, this is probably the intermittant issue many of us face with our cruise control systems, like my 1999 A6Q, the cruise cuts out around 25 minutes of driving. The transistor overheats due to lack of cooling most likely due to not enough thermal transfer grease behind it backing it to the heat sync. Im going to check this out tomorrow.

I must be missing someething because I have an air bag there .. and if the airbag went off I would be wearing that braket .. on my Audi 90 they moved it to under thq back seat .. does anyone have a digital pic of this ? i would be more than happy to post a pic of my glove box area .. I simply have one crumple zone at each side, and above the hole for the glove box is the air bag.. this is very frustrating as I know exactly what it looks like and what I am looking for ,, i just can't see it ..

Okay, here is where it is supposed to be. Keep in mind that if you have a very late model 2000 (which is more like a 2001) than I believe they got rid of this module and integrated it into the computer (w/ vac systems). If that's the case then you either have a stalk problem (thing on steering column) or a vac leak somewhere.
