Default ABS and brake lights

I just got DDM tuning HIDs installed and heard that the ballast might cause random warning lights. Probably 2 days after I got the HID installed on my way home from work the ABS and brake lights came on, but around 2 miles into the drive they both went off. This also happened again on my way to the store. The warning lights came on when the headlights were off so this got me thinking if it really is the HID causing this or if I might have a sensor problem? What do you guys think? Is it the HID or is it a sensor?

Too much power being drawn, causing a loss of power to the brake lights maybe?

what you just described sounds to me like your ABS module is going. if your car is older than 2001 most probably its the module. same thing happened in my car and now the abs and brake light stay on forever. it used to be intermittent like yours.

but only a diagnostic of the abs module will let us know the exact reason.
buy a vag-com cable from ebay $10 bucks and the software is free! best $10 ive ever spent considering ive saved the ($130 diagnostic fee the dealer charges) and i can use it all the time.

I was thinking about buying that cable, but I don't have a laptop.. Might have to get the old desktop set up in the garage or just get a laptop or a netbook.

i believe some computer stores such as office depot and such sell extensions for $30. these extensions are quite long as well. dont know exact measurement but its not like a 3-4 foot.
