bad chain tensioner?
#2
The only way you can tell is through a medical stethescope or putting a screwdriver to where the noise is coming from and putting your ear on it. Un-fortunately there isn't a full proof way of determining if the tensioner is bad. Once again, if the engine sounds like a diesel engine and you can hear it well with the screwdriver trick on a specific bank then its most likely the tensioner. It kind of takes a trained ear.
Maybe post a sound pic?

well.. when i bought the car,the timingbelt was changed 10000km earlier. the timing was bad so i bought the timingbelt kit. when i changed it i still had one problem. i have changed one camsensor, one cam, chain and now i have to change the chain tensioner(i had a accident whith the tensioner, destroyed the plastic half moon on the top of the tensioner, where the chain glides)dont know the word for it:-(
before the accsident i have tried to get the timing right but no luck.
i called the audi dealer for the "half moon", i have to by the whole tensioner..doh!!expensive ****! 1/4 of my month income.. gee..
the marks on the camshafts did not allign where it should..so i got one new chain in case the chain was stretched..
i bought a bmw 535 one month a go,so i have one car to drive. but one ******* rocker arm got destroyed yesterday..sucks.. now i have two cars, and none to drive..
