hi all I looked at another A6 3.0l tonight and the guy had pulled valve covers to change trimming belt and noticed this issue here is my question could this be run like it is or not. I was thinking of one for winter the 02 I just got is in such good shape I was thinking of putting in garage for winter. please take a look at pic and give a honest opinion I can get it for 800.

Let me make sure i understand your question. You currently own a 2002 A6 3.0L and the picture is of the heads of a 2003 A6 3.0L that you are able to buy for $800. You want to know the the pictured motor would run as it appears in the photo so that you can run it and leave your 2002 in the garage for a while?
If this is the correct summary I would say that that motor is dirty as hell and with that much buildup in the cam area I cannot imagine that the valves are not as bad as well as the exhaust system. With that said IF it doesnt have any other "flaws" than the dirty motor $800 aint bad for a "rental" car that could last you a while. If the $800 is not a sacrifice for you and you have the other car to drive if you need it I would go for it. Worst case you could get well over a grand or so out of it if you parted it out on ebay.
