Inner door handle on driver side wont open door. Obviously the mechanism isn't hooked anymore. Any one know if im going to need to purchase replacement parts or is it a latch and fix kind of thing? I couldn't find any details of it on my own. 99 A6 btw. I hope the repair isnt hard.

 

Take the door card off and have look to see what is happening. Its easy to remove, could be a number of reasons why. Let us know how you get on!

 

Most likely the cable has come off the latch, a common problem. The cable has a hook on the end that attaches to the latch and is held in place by a metal clip. Over time it comes loose and comes off. To fix, remove door panel and re-attach the cable to the latch and use a small zip tie to secure.

You did not specify front or rear door. If rear door, check the child proof switch.

 

To remove the front door, you need to pop open the window switch with a screw driver. There is a hole below the switch. Just insert the screw driver and push up hard. Disconnect the switch, remove 1 phillips screw at the right side of the door panel, remove another at the left side and lift the door panel up. That's it.

Audi always has hidden screws, which are not mentioned in the BentleyPublishers.com CD. So, if the panel won't easily lift upward, then you may have a hidden screw.
