Car went haywire, got the following codes...
I have a 2003 Audi A6.
So a couple of years ago my car went haywire (similar to below but worse) and the result was a failure of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. I got it replaced and a month later it went out again, so got it warrantied out. Both times the failure of that sensor may the car undriveable to I had to get it towed.
It had been driving great since then, until this morning. Was at an intersection when the ESP light came on. Car then went haywire. Would cut off if idle, you would press the gas and get nothing, then it would sputter, slam into gear, and jerk. Check Engine light then came on. When I got up to speed (20 mph+) it was fine, however. Then when I would stop at a red light the car would cut off and I would have to restart, then back to it sputtering, jerking, and missing. Was able to drive a mile or two, but it was rough. However, it wasn't as bad as when the MAF failed a couple of years ago.
Took it in and the following codes came up:
19497
P3041
16486
18265
P1857
The first two seem related to the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. The bottom three seem to all be related to that MAF sensor. So the question is, is this just the Engine Coolant Sensor, just the MAF sensor, is it both, or is it something else? Would seem odd for two sensors to both go out at the same time. I have not had any problems with temperature. If only the Engine Coolant Sensor went out, would this throw the MAF off, thus resulting in those MAF codes?
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
