Dension GW51MO2 or other devices?
Hello Experts,
I recently bought a 2008 Audi A6 (CPO). It has MMI 2 in it. It did not come with iPod interface and I would like to have it installed. Plus, I would like to update maps in the in-dash navigation system.
Should I go with Dension GW51MO2 which (as I understand) is an add-on to enable ipod interface? A store in Chicago quoted $600 for device and installation. It seems to be a good device for Audis. I still have to spend extra to update maps on my Nav system right?
My theory is for that kind of money (or little more) I could get an in-dash DVD player with latest Nav system.
Should I be concerned about violating the CPO warranty terms if I get either kind of devices installed?
Which one would you suggest?
Thanks for your time.
Sunny

I had the Denison in my 2006 and it worked well. It is well made and it hooks right into the MOST fiber optic loop used by all of the other audio/video accessories. Adding an aftermarket DVD player in the dash is probably a non-starter. Take a look at the A6 dash. Where would you put a player? Plus, it would need to feed the MOST loop otherwise you cannot get the sound into the speakers. The audio components in the A6 feed all of the sound data digitally through the fiber optic MOST loop network to the amp in the trunk which then feeds it to the speakers. If you figured out how to feed the speakers some other way you would lose sound from your other accessories.
With regards to the NAV disk, yeah, you have to purchase a new NAVTEC disk to get updated maps. You can get them on-line for about $180 or from the dealer for $200.

It is strange to read so many diverse results from different people. It is difficult to predict what to expect from the device. I am from the UK, https://populationstat.com/united-kingdom/london, and going to buy it. I think I will still give it a try and them I will revert with my own experience. Hopefully, everything will be fine in my case. I want to test it anyway.
