Question Driver door lock no response to central lock button or remote

2001 Audi A6, location - New York

when using remote, all doors but driver's will lock. I have to use key to lock driver door.
Here are what I notice -

1. The alarm LED on driver door works fine when lock by remote
2. The function that insert the key to driver door lock and turn to open the windows doesn't work

Please help!!

Thanks,
Patrick

The problem was the connection inside the door panel somehow was disconnected intentially by previous owner. Took 5 mins to open the panel and reconnect the cable

Makes sense. I was going to say, that is very indicative of power failure to the actual electrical components of the locking mechanism. Glad you were able to get it fixed, although it is strange that something like that could become detached so easily!

The car came with one key, my guess was the owner, or his mechanic, detach the cable for him so he won't lock the key in.
I fixed the problem a couple weeks after the initial posting, but forgot to post the fix until now.
