Default error codes P1411 and P1423 Vacume leek?

Hi guys,

My check engine light came on today the codes that were as follows:

P1423:
Definition: bank 1 secondary air injection system output too small

Explanation:
Check Air system for leak

Probable Cause:
failed air pump

P1411
Definition: bank 2 secondary air injection system output too small

Explanation:
Check Air system for leak

Probable Cause:
failed air pump

I know there is a link in the vacuum hose on top the engine do you think this is the cause?

Do you think that my air pump is damaged? I am not sure when I am going to be able to get the car to a shop can I still drive the car with it the way it is, without damaging my air pump?

Also how soon do I need to get this fixed?

Thanks guys
James

My 2.8 had the same code. In my case, it was a vacuum lean on the hose going into the bank 2 combi valve on the rear of the engine. I say check the vacuum lines first.

I know there is a leak on the right side at the top of the engine closest to the fire wall. So I am assuming that is what threw the code. Can I still drive the car and how soon do I need to get the car fixed?

I would fix it, since it can mess with your emission and can foul up the cat. Not for awhile, but cats are expensive and I wouldn't risk it. BTW, it is really easy and cheap to replace vacuum lines. $5 tops.

Are these the instructions on how to fix this:
http://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng79.shtml
Only snag is that this is for a 2.8 and mine is a 2.7T I have had a look and the top of the 2.7 is just a mass of pipes and connectors and I want to be sure I am looking at the right pipes.
Thanks
James

NO those pipes are crankcase breather piping, not vacuum piping. Just follow the vacuum line and replace one section at a time. That way, you can't really mess it up.

From the dealer???? You have to be kidding RIGHT?

Just goto an auto parts place like Autozone and get some vacuum hose of the corect size. Usually the AZ guys will help by looking at your car and telling wich size you need. Get a few feet so you'll have extra..

Jeeeze the dealer LOL --LOL
