Help -Check Engine code P0441 (Evap Emissions Purge Flow Fault)
My 2000 A6 just showed me acheck engine light that AutoZone says is a P0441 Evap Emissions Purge Flow Fault. Has anyone come across this and do you know what the fix is? I got the technician to clear the fault and so far (4 hours and about 40 miles) it has not come back on.

Its an incorrect flow detection for the secondary air injection system, not the EVAP system.
Its most likely a broken or torn vaccum line going to the combi valves on the back of the cylinder heads, or a bad SAP pump.

Thanks. I just bought the car and it looks like it is time to orderup a service manual. I didn't mention in my first post that I have the 4.2.Would that make a difference?

It usually takes a few drives for the SAP code to show up. I think the manual says two. My 97 Avant A6 throws the code about once every two weeks. All I do is clear it with VAGCom until I have time to look into the real cause.
I am hopeing that it is a vacuum or pressure line and not the pump.
PS VAGCom is the best automotive investmentIever made. It paid for itself the first time I used it and has continued to pay for itself over and over again.

It sounds like the same thing I am going through. I just bought a 2001 A6 4.2 and within 24 hours of owning the car, the check engine light went on. I took it to the dealership that I bought it at, and they said it was the "evap purge valve." I said that I wanted it fixed, and they said it was going to something like $400 to fix. I am still in talks with the dealership about it after 2 weeks. They refuse to fix it under the warranty, because apparently the warranty only covers big stuff
I know nothing about the car, but look forward to becomming knowledgeable about it. Is this an easy fix, even for a beginner like me? Sounds like I should buy the service manual for sure.
Are there different codes that come up concerning the purge valve?

I used to work at the Dealer and we saw several the the purge valve go back! the car I got for my wife had 132,000 mile and the same code, replaced the purge valve cleared the codes problem gone. One other thing that you need to check when you pull the valve make sure there is no black specs on the inlet side this would be carbon from the carbon canister this can cause insufficent flow ( enough carbon plugs the screen and restricts the flow and pop a code , Audi has some canister that had a problem carbon coming loose from the bag inside and pluging the inlet valve. Look at the inlet to the valve and you will see a screen, make sure you do not see anything there.
