Hello All, new to the forum...

So I bought a 99 A6 quattro Wagon...A neighbor told me he saw my brake

lights on all night...I go out the next morning and sure enough my battery

is dead...I take out battery, charge it and install a new brake light switch.


The good, the brake lights are no longer on. The bad, installed the freshly

recharged battery and the car cranks over but will not stay started unless

I keep my foot on the pedal and gas it over 2k rpms...Code on my obdII reads

P1545...Sheesh, all from a dead battery and brake light switch...Is there any

sort of easy fix for this issue?

Wow, just finding that this issue is common and there are other threads on this..

so it looks as if I need a vagcom to take care of this issue...Any other help would be

appreciated...Can this issue be taken care of without vagcom?

I think* the reason this happened to the OP is because after he reconnected the battery he didnt perform a throttle body adaptation.

 

Acutally, even after installing the brake switch, my brake lights are still on all the time but now only when the headlights are turned on...

I paid a mobile mechanic who has a (snap on obdII) to come down and re align the throttle body and such($80 charge).. So the car starts and runs again although still have the brake light issue..

I have a. P1545 fault code i bought the vcds cord off of Amazon and down loaded the free software it helps alot i can see alot more of what going on with my car but it wont go inti advanced setting like fixing the throttle body i am in a really panicked situation here.PLEASE SOME EITHER WITH A FULLY FUNCTIONAL VCDS UNIT OR SOMEONEWN ? OR KNOWLEDGE ON THIS PLEAAE HELP
