how to fold down rear seats
Hi all, I just got a2002 A6 2.7 quattro with 86,000 klm (53,000+ miles) but haven't got the manuals yet.
I can't seem to get the rear seats to budge. I unlocked the latch, squeeze and pull and nothing ...
any help would be greatly appreciated

RE: how to fold down rear seats
I had a similar problem.I only managed to get the two side sections down. The centre armrest stayed put. I didn't feel comfortable pushing too hard, not knowing what was stuck.
Is the armrest supposed to go down? I would imagine so, especially as mine is the avant.

RE: how to fold down rear seats
These cars seats can some times get stuck as they don't get folded down often. As everybody else said, just push harder. Another thing to consider,... are the latches LOCKED? I know it's dumb but there is a key hole in the top of the latch. That is to disable it so as to keep valuables in the trunk safe.
As far as the arm rest thing goes. The arm rest does go down, be careful being too forceful thought as there is a compartment built in there for housing the First Aid Kit. In the A4's where the top of the rest comes up, you often find them partially open and stuck when folded into the seat.

I have 1999 Audi A6 Avant. One of my rear seats got stuck. This has happened in the past and I would usually just push harder and it would open. This time, pushing harder wasn't working. So, approaching the latch from behind the seat, I used a flat-head srewdriver and popped the internal latch. It's easily accessible. This worked. I then saw that the round plastic mechanism that turns the lever that lifts the lock was broken. Needs to be replaced..
