A 2000 2.7t quarto with 125,000 miles. My son was given this A6 last year. It has cost me over $3000 so far.
Abs module
Air Bag module
Drive shaft bearings and carrier (used parts)
Rotors and pads
Power Steering Pump
Window switches (driver's side)
Resonator
Tires
Radio set to Bose by dealer
Rear speaker
Needs new front leather
Repair instrument module
The labor was done by me or by my trusty independent service guy.

Other than that we love its looks, ride and handling, but we would not have taken the gift if I knew in advance what it would cost to make it right.
But my PT Cruiser and Town & Country are rusting away and the Audi has not one speck of rust and we live in snow and salt country.

Default 03 a6

Bought this 03 A6 Quattro with about 135K on it for my daughter for college and immediately had the timing belt/water pump/ idler pulleys maintenance done and also found the harmonic balancer falling apart. Figured it was the right thing to do, correct? Well,14 months later and about 145,000 my water pump starts weeping and a few months after that total water pump bearing failure which also meant another new timing belt and of course the many labor hours! So now I sit here deciding just how much i want to put into this thing because now I am having multiple misfire issues that make it idle rough but runs smooth when warmed up. Great looking car, rides great yet, but man is this car expensive to keep on the road if you are not a mechanic with all the specialty tools! So now it has 158,000 miles needs tires and possibly new cats and cant decide if its worth it!

Thanks Kevin! I guess you are telling me to run, don't walk away! Ha!
She loves her car, but doesn't have to fix it all the time either. What bugs me most is all the money i put in to it and seeing it go waste IF that was the last major problem for awhile, but Im guessing there is no "last major problem".
Decisions, decisions.......

I kept hoping that it was the last problem, but it never was. With that said the check engine light has been dark since I ordered the new car 3,000 miles ago. So who knows.
