So my recently acquired 2.7t A6 (2003 Sline Quattro tip w 70km) has the Japanese navigation plus unit. It is integrated with the dash to provide functional info as to radio frequency and band etc. I can't connect my ipod through it so I plan to buy an aftermarket double din or single din unit that offers Ipod functionality. I'm not worried about GPS as my phone can do that. What I would like to preserve though is the information link between the dash and the head unit. I understand the Navigation plus (RNS J) is a Blaupunkt product? If so are there any particular models or brands that will integrate, both in terms of install and 'talking' to my car.

Retrofitting radios into Audis can be expensive and iffy. Sometimes low-tech wins. My daughter bought an adapter that broadcasts from her iPOD on several FM bands and we just tune the A6 radio to one of them to use the iPOD. She also uses it on her A4.
