Default Need advice for a 2.8FSI A6 :)

Hey guys,

I bought an A6 (C7) 2012 with a 2.8FSI V6 engine and a 7 speed DSG gearbox about a 16 months back. Initially it was pretty peppy and was bumper to bumper with the 3.0T also. Recently though, it has lost power - a LOT of power.

It's come to the point where pretty much a 2.4 Honda Accord can pull alongside me under full throttle. It has had all it's services and checks done. The dealership says it's perfect. I added STP fuel system cleaner which didn't really increase acceleration, but it made the engine feel smoother, especially when idling.

I'm at a loss of what to do to get some power out of this baby. At least for the next few years buying a 3.0T is out of the question. Does anybody have any tips or ideas on what to do to get increased power output of of this engine?

Would appreciate any input

Thanks guys

AQ

Losing significant power is something that needs to be looked at but I have 2 initial thoughts.

1. What grade of gas are you using? Did you change grade or maybe even where you initially went to
2. Get a 2nd opinion. Is there another Audi dealer you can go to? You are still under warranty.

Hi trian,

Thanks for your reply, I did recently change to use a high grade gas. I was initially running 95, and now run 98 octane. However both of them give pretty much the same acceleration.

As for a second opinion i have had a couple of private vendors use a diagnostic tool, but they find that there are no errors. I should mention however, there is a dent in the exhaust pipe just before the silencer. The sound of the engine has also been whinny for the past month or so, but the dealer says that the pipe doesn't need to be replaced as it's only slightly dented.

What do you think?

Thanks, will do this for sure, it needs to be a little more responsive

But it still doesn't solve my problem which is that it doesn't give any push even under full throttle. Any other ideas?

Thanks again
