Thumbs up Need your opinion, 1995 A6 2.8 Sedan with 198k miles

I came across this on Craigslist, and I was instantly interested.

Copied the description straight from the post:

5-SPEED
MILEAGE: 198 K
POWER WINDOW
POWER DOOR LOCK
LEATHER HEATED SEATS
SUNROOF
ORIGINAL BOSE SYSTEM (FACTORY)
TINTED WINDOWS
H.I.D IN FOG LIGHTS & HEADLIGHTS
CLEAN IN AND OUT
18 IN RIMS
SUSPENSION DROPPED

Price: $2,600

Now, I've never bought a car privately, always dealt with dealerships (unfortunately). I definitely know I need a PPI, if I am still interested after seeing it in person (I live near Princeton, NJ, this car is in Floral Park, NY). Is there anything I should be looking for specifically when it comes to the A6 (C4)?

In my communications with the seller, there is no service history for the car. I ran a Carfax on it, and it's clean (but then again, there's no real way of knowing without a thorough inspection).

I had a 1995 A6 Avant, but it "suffered" with oil leaks (it was more of an annoyance, having to top off with oil every 2 weeks). Otherwise, it was a great car!

Here's pics of it:

These are the only pics of it, for now. I will hopefully be taking more pics this Saturday.

Any input at all is greatly appreciated!

Bump, UPDATE!

I met with the seller today (thankfully way before the snowstorm) and the car appears to be in fine shape except for a few issues.

EXTERIOR:

The wheels (TSW I don't know the model, but it's a bronze color) have curb rash, not major, but noticeable on driver's side.

Typical dings/dents except for a 6" crack on the passenger side front bumper by the fender.

Tires are Michelin Pilot S 245/35ZR-18 in rears & 235/40ZR-18 in front EXCEPT the driver's side has a different tire Conti (didn't get the model).

Passenger rear tire has a "bubble" on the sidewall.

Unfortunately due to time constrains, did not get to drive it, but engine was running, and there were no leaks.

INTERIOR:

Seats were decent shape for a 17 year old car, no check engine lights but the car does have around 205K miles now.

Minor thing on the interior, the seat memory buttons were missing and the seller said he didn't know if it works, as never used that function.

With that in mind, what's a good suggested starting point for negotiations?

I was thinking $1,600 and definitely not going over $2,100.

Another tough issue will be getting a PPI done. The seller has a crazy work schedule, and it would be difficult for us to go to a shop.

While I don't consider myself very mechanically inclined, but I was considering foregoing the PPI and going for it based on a hunch (or more of a "hope") that the car is fine.

Thoughts?
