I've just googled Parking Brake Malfunction and found this thread, so I regsitered on the forums to say my bit.

I bought a new Audi S5 just over a year ago and I have had this warning light come on four times since I've had the car; all on long trips.

The first time I took it into Bramley Audi and they said that it was just an error in the system so they reset it and off I went. That was in June.

In September I had the Parking Brake Malfunction again and took it into Parklands Audi in Gloucestershire. They said there was a problem with some kind of 'environmental filter?' and replaced that.

The third time was in October when my other half was driving the car. Although the warning light came on, it turned itself off again about a hundred miles or so later on, even after a stop and restart where it stayed on.

The fourth time was today, on my way back from my parents. I haven't taken it into a dealership yet, what with it being Christmas, but hope to do so tomorrow if I can. Especially as I am going on holiday tomorrow and need the car.

Basically, I bought this car mainly for long trips, and every major long trip i've taken, the car has developed this fault. I'm not particularly happy to be honest.

Kevin, I've PMed you about the TSB and left my email. Can you send it over to me please?

There seems to be a very great demand for a manual emergncy release for the parking brake, when this obviously cheap control system fails. If Audi won't provide one, then somebody will sell a magic box which also won't work, but may void the warranty.
